Commandant Marcus Thalassinus Endrin was the leader of the Sable Company in Korvosa. He was known as a dedicated man whose strict adherence of honor and tradition sometimes blinded him to what was best politically.

After seeing Queen Ileosa Arabasti become more and more entrenched in her power and eliminate time-honored structures to split authority and avoid autocratic rule, Endrin finally resorted to the ultimate treason: He attempted to kill the Queen at her public appearance after the blood veil troubles.

He shot her with a crossbow point-blank and hit his target, the bolt deeply embedded in her skull. However, through mysterious powers, the Queen survived the attack, pulled the bolt out of her head and stabbed Endrin with it, killing him on the spot.
